The Senior Controller will be responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s financial management, including financial reporting, internal controls, tax compliance, payroll, banking, and ERP systems oversight. This role requires a strategic thinker and hands-on leader who can ensure accuracy in financial data, enhance operational efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance and fiscal responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and maintain standardized financial processes and internal controls to ensure the accuracy of financial statements and to drive improvements in profitability, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Lead the four-week period-end close process and prepare comprehensive financial reporting packages summarizing operational performance. Responsibilities include:
Reconciling all bank accounts
Recording journal entries accurately and timely
Managing inventory control procedures to ensure accurate valuation
Reconciling all balance sheet accounts
Conducting financial analysis to quantify variances against standard costs
Review payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to processing.
Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies, including oversight of:
The annual financial statement audit
Additional audits such as the 401(k) Plan and workers’ compensation audits
Administer the Carolina Foods 401(k) Employees Profit Sharing and Savings Plan, ensuring compliance and timely reporting.
Oversee all aspects of the cash cycle, including accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and capital expenditures. Specific tasks include:
Submitting Positive Pay data to Truist for all AP and payroll disbursements
Recording daily deposits and ensuring timely and accurate wire and deposit tracking
Reviewing ACH and check disbursements to confirm appropriate approvals and compliance
Develop and maintain management dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide timely, data-driven insights into business performance.
Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, quarterly forecasts, and ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field required
CPA designation strongly preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Excellent communication and organizational skills with a high attention to detail
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
