MAINTENANCE MANAGE
Directs and coordinates the activities of maintenance supervisors and technicians engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment used in the production process. This role will oversee the maintenance of buildings, and utility systems of the factory and the warehouse/distribution center. This role will also be responsible for increasing the reliability of all manufacturing equipment, processes, utilities, controls and safety/security systems
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING
Make sure the equipment is PM’ed and/or repaired properly so as to prevent repetitive repairs, downtime, equipment, failures, personnel injuries, product Damage, and equipment damage. Enhance the use of the CMMS and elevate the quality of PMs
Developing and Training your crew so that they can properly maintain, repair, changeover, and adjust the equipment for maximum operating efficiency
With the maintenance Manager establish a training and skills development program to improve the skills of our maintenance technicians and supervisors
Implement a predictive maintenance program to schedule repairs before breakdowns with a goal of reducing downtime by department to less than 2%
Scheduling your crews to keep overtime under 8 hours per man per week while ensuring you have maximum personnel available on down days and Sunday/Monday startups with sufficient personnel to maintain all other shifts
Make sure all personnel follow safety procedure, especially lockout/tag out and ensuring all equipment is properly guarded and all safeties function properly
Work with HR Department to hire maintenance technicians and supervisors as needed
Develop a call in list
Participate and report in a weekly meeting with other department heads, the Maintenance Manager, the VP of Operations and the President to discuss their departments’ maintenance needs
Oversee building repairs and maintenance except for painting, floor, and wall repairs
Overlapping with or talking by phone daily with your off-shift supervisors to exchange information
Make sure maintenance supervisors and technicians contact you immediately if the following occurs.
Unsafe equipment operating conditions that may result in employee injury or property damage
Equipment Operating conditions that are causing or will cause product damage
Equipment problems that have caused downtime exceeding 30 minutes or are expected to result in downtime greater than 30 minutes
Walk the floor daily to observe the operation of the equipment and to talk to production supervisors and equipment operators about equipment problems or ideas for improvement
Elimination of wasted time by technicians by establishing a method for accounting for their time
Implement the use of a maintenance repair evaluation form to document the quality of your technicians’ repairs
Assisting Maintenance (Project) Manager in the completion of projects such as, equipment installations, relocations, rebuilds etc
Making sure daily checks are completed and deviations from normal are reported to you and the appropriate departments immediately to take the necessary steps to prevent waste or spoilage and the appropriate repairs and corrections are made.
Overseeing the maintenance, operation, and repairs of all forklifts, boilers, air compressors, freezers, refrigerators, chilled and hot water sources, evaporative coopers, HVAC equipment, and water, sewer, gas and electrical services
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENT
Experience implementing and maintaining equipment maintenance & reliability programs
Cross functional team experience
Good interpersonal & communication skills; able to communicate internally and externally at all levels of the organization
Background in mechanical systems, electrical systems, process controls, PLC troubleshooting as well as broad understanding of structural, electrical and mechanical engineering concepts as they relate to plant maintenance
Experience in managing departmental budget and monitoring expenditures
Knowledge of GMP,FDA,EPA,OSHA rules and regulation
Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new complex applications
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED with over 15 years of technical leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
OR Bachelor’s degree ( B.S.) in Mechanical or Electrical or Engineering, minimum 10 years’ experience required in a technical management role
Or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years’ experience preferred
Supervisory experience
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
Ability to work flexible hours
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in an SQF or BRC facility preferred
Experience in a Food Processing preferred
Knowledge of OSHA Regulations
Knowledge of facility equipment (e.g. boilers, chillers, air compressors, refrigeration, forklifts
etc.
Experience managing maintenance in a 24/7 manufacturing operation preferred
Experience in Computerized maintenance Management Systems ( CMMS) preferred
Must have strong expertise in mechanical systems such as; pumps, drives and gear boxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, fryers, ovens and extruders, conveyor belts, piping, and other power transmission components
